Featured Guest Artist
Margaret Linderman
My interest in textiles and design started with sewing doll clothes and doll bedding at the age of three. I progressed to paper dolls soon after. I was never satisfied with available options – even at an early age – I had to create my own paper and fabric combinations. You can guess that I loved dress up!!!
My clothing and textile interests led me to weaving (loom and off loom), basketry, fabric manipulation and stitchery. I was fortunate enough to be noticed and juried into California Fibers in San Diego in the 70’s.
I took quilting classes during the 1990’s – learning newer techniques and tools. Today my closet, again, bursts with my personally created clothing and quilts adorn every available surface. I had the honor to present a collection of my wearable art at the PIQF Fashion Show in 2007 and 2009
My inspirations are often ethnic fabrics, ethnic clothing shapes and fabrications, hand-woven fabrics, Molas, fragments of antique clothing such as kimonos, obi’s, European embroideries and vintage quilts.
I am retired as an IT professional and have a Mathematics Degree from SDSU. I have two children, Janis who has a Fashion Design Degree and Jon who is a Professor at the University of Dayton. I also have three grandchildren, Myles, Malloryis and Colin.
